Several times a year, in the summer, we open the garden at Cold Comfort Farm for the National Garden Scheme. This means that you can come and look round our garden, the wildflower meadow and the nursery. On our Open Days we offer lovely homemade refreshments, with homemade cakes and /or light lunches available. There is a small charge for entry to the garden and for refreshments. This money goes to nursing and gardening charities supported by the National Garden Scheme. More details about the charities supported, specific days and times when the garden is open and prices can be found here.
Open Days
We are open on two Sundays and three weekdays in 2025. Sundays are typically busier than weekdays. We welcome children to the garden and on the Sunday openings we aim to have an activity specifically for children. Our full range of plants is for sale on our open days and it is a great way to see what we sell growing in the garden. You will also be able to see all our plants under propagation before they reach the nursery tables.
Open by Arrangement
Many people do not realise that you can visit some gardens privately through the NGS. Cold Comfort Farm is a 'by arrangement' garden which means you can arrange to visit us at a time that suits you. We are happy to accommodate groups as small as 2 people up to 50 people. We can provide refreshments if required and you can enjoy them in privacy in our summer house overlooking the wildflower meadow and the Preselis. You will be free to wander round the garden and wildflower meadow at your own pace. Price is the same as our main open days.
Open for Groups
We especially welcome groups to visit the garden and wildflower meadow. In the past we have had garden groups, special interest groups and Merched y Wawr. We can offer a short garden tour in English or Welsh if required. We also offer refreshments. Groups usually pay individually on arrival. Price is the same as for our main open days. Our full range of plants is for sale.
Open for Workshops
In 2025 we will be offering workshops in our garden. As well as attending the workshop, participants will be able to enjoy a light lunch, time to wander round the garden and wildflower meadow and purchase plants.
Refreshments & Facilities
Our refreshments are homemade. On Sunday openings we offer tea/coffee and a choice of cake. On weekday openings we offer light lunches or tea/coffee and cake. Prices vary, but typically a hot drink and a generous slice of homemade cake costs between £5 and £6. We offer Gluten Free, egg free and Vegan choices. If you are booking refreshments for a 'by arrangement' visit or a group we can discuss what you would like us to provide at the time of booking.
We have ample parking in our field and a W.C on site.
We can take payment for entry, refreshments and plants by card or cash.
Please note we cannot accommodate dogs when visiting the garden and there is no shade in the parking field so it is best to leave your dog at home.
